Being an Agape volunteer is an opportunity to have a lasting positive effect on an Agape student. It is an experience where one can expose that boy or girl to opportunities beyond Bolton Road and the west Atlanta community and make a difference in how he or she views their place in the world.
Meals for Kids / Food Volunteering
This is our greatest volunteer need! Providing meals for our students is a wonderful way to serve their bodies and minds before they are taken home for the day. We serve all of our students dinner in the evenings and the sign-ups to serve dinner are separated by age. We need volunteer help to purchase and serve dinner to all of our students every Monday through Friday.
Dinner #1 for Elementary: 5:00-6:00 pm
Dinner #2 for Elementary: 5:30-6:30 pm
Dinner #3 for Middle: 6:00-7:00 pm

Homework Buddies
Agape provides a supervised, safe haven for students to receive tutoring and homework assistance every day after school. All elementary and middle school after-school programming occurs at our facility at 2210 Marietta Blvd. Volunteer one hour of your time each week during the school year to provide mentorship to our students and help us achieve our mission of academic enrichment.
We have tutoring every Monday-Thursday that Atlanta Public Schools are open.
Elementary School Homework Hour is from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm
High School Homework Hour is from 4:20 pm to 5:40 pm
Middle School Homework Hour is from 5:15 pm to 6:30 pm
To get involved, click here to make a quick profile and sign up for both opportunities!
LITERACY TUTORING
Did you know that achieving reading proficiency by third grade is a major academic development milestone for elementary school students? To ensure all Agape students reach this program, we use Heggerty Phonics and Phonics Boost to support our students.
This is an extremely enriching experience that involves our volunteers giving our students the greatest gift available: the ability to read.
You can become a Literacy Tutor by completing a brief series of trainings.
To find out more information about scheduling trainings please contact cstuckey@agapeatlanta.org.
Corporate Tutoring
If you have a group who wants to volunteer and you are looking for an experience beyond providing dinner to kids, please consider participating in a Corporate Tutor Day. Corporate Tutor Days are a deeply meaningful experience for groups and can be flexible depending on what the goals are for your team. A typical Corporate Tutor day lasts from about 3:15 to 6:30 PM as follows:
3:00 PM to 3:30 PM – Tour the facility and receive volunteer training
3:30 PM to 4:30 PM – Tutor during homework hour
4:45 PM to 5:45 PM – help facilitate enrichment time
5:45 PM to 6:30 PM – provide dinner to kids
To find out more information about scheduling a Corporate Tutor Day and customizing the experience for your team please contact cstuckey@agapeatlanta.org.

Community Initiatives
There are three (3) events that we hold every year to give back to our community. They include:
The Back 2 School Bonanza
Each year, we collect and distribute backpacks and school supplies for Agape students, as well as toiletries, shoes, and clothing that they may need for the new school year.
ARISE Walk/Run
Each year, we host a Mother-Daughter Walk/Run event to support our students. Volunteer sign up begins October 1st. The event will be held on November 12th.
The Agape Holiday Gift Store
Each year, we collect and distribute toys, gifts, and coats for the community. Volunteer sign up begins November 1st. The event will be held on December 13th-14th.
RAGTime
Agape serves 45 senior citizens during a day-time program centered around Recreation, Activities, and Games. We take our seniors on field trips most days of programing, but they have fellowship, bingo, and lunch on Tuesdays. Due to COVID-19 most of this programming has been put on hold. However, we still deliver lunch to our RAGTime Seniors every Tuesday.
If you would like to be involved in providing lunch or assisting in the delivery, please contact cstuckey@agapeatlanta.org
SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES
Over the summer Agape provides 8 weeks of enriching summer camp experiences. Camp JumpSmart is an academic preparatory camp for rising Kindergarten-2nd Graders focusing on reading comprehension and math basics. Go Girl Go & FIT Camp are our two sport camps for girls and boys rising into 3rd grade-7th grade. Camp Elevate is our teen camp through which our teens experience outdoor adventures, college tours, and participate in finance & entrepreneurship courses.
We serve lunch to each of these camps during the summer Monday through Friday in the same shift style as we serve dinner to schools during our after-school programs and need volunteer help to make this happen.
We also need tutors to help with Camp JumpSmart. You can sign up to volunteer for a week, a day, or an hour at a time with our youngest kids.
