FAQS for New Agape Volunteers:

How do I get started as a volunteer at Agape?

As a new volunteer at Agape, please follow the steps listed below:

1. Complete our virtual Volunteer Orientation, located on our website.
2. Take the Volunteer Orientation Quiz and sign the Volunteer Agreement Form
3. Register as a new Agape Volunteer to create an account on agapeatlanta.volunteerhub.com.
   1. For adults (18+), you will need a background check at: https://vhub.at/agapeatlanta.
   2. For minors (under 18), please skip the background check and register at: https://vhub.at/agapeatlantaminors.
   3. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation text and/or email.
4. Sign up for the next Volunteer Training on Volunteer Hub
5. Start volunteering at Agape!

I created an account on Volunteer Hub, but I can’t log in. Why?

New volunteers who are 18 years or older are required to complete a background check. After creating an account on Volunteer Hub, you will be prompted to complete this check. Once the background check is completed and cleared, usually within 48-72 hours, you will be able to log in. (see above)

How do I sign up for an available volunteer opportunity?

Log in to your VolunteerHub account and browse the volunteer calendar for available opportunities. Select the opportunity that best fits your schedule and register.

Meal Volunteer FAQs

How do I get started as a meal volunteer?

1. Log-in to your Volunteer Hub account: Visit agapeatlanta.volunteerhub.com.
2. Register for the date you want to provide a meal.
3. Complete the brief Meal Volunteer Training Video.
4. Arrive at Agape 15-20 minutes before the scheduled dinner time.
5. Serve the meals to Agape students!

Can I make my meal at home for the students?

No, due to health and safety regulations, we cannot allow food to be prepared outside of our health-regulated kitchen. However, you are welcome to prepare your meal in our kitchen at Agape. Please notify us at least 48 hours in advance if you plan to cook on-site.

How much does it cost to feed a student at Agape?

The cost to feed a student is approximately $8.00. We serve an estimated 200 students at the Center.

Can I buy a meal from a grocery store instead of ordering from a restaurant?

Yes, you are welcome to purchase items for your meals from grocery stores such as Publix, Kroger, Costco, or Sam’s Club, or order meals from restaurants.

Why do we have training sessions for our volunteers?

As our organization grows rapidly, we need to make changes to ensure the quality of our services to the community. We value our volunteers and want them to be empowered to serve our students and families effectively. Proper training for our volunteers helps achieve this goal as an organization.

What will this training cover?

Our training sessions prepare you to serve as academic support partners in various subjects. We want our volunteers to help our students reach their full academic potential by providing support in different subject areas. Our training equips you with the necessary resources and innovative methods to effectively support our students’ academic growth.

Is training a requirement for a returning volunteer?

Yes, we encourage our returning Agape volunteers to attend a training session if you plan to volunteer as a Homework Buddy.  Training will keep you updated on new changes in our afterschool programming and to be prepared for their new roles.

If I miss the training session for the month, are there other training options?

Currently, our Volunteer ASP Training is held in-person at Agape every month. We encourage new and returning volunteers interested in volunteering at our Afterschool Program to register for the next available date so you can start volunteering as soon as possible!
