It’s Autumn at Agape! Where the crisp air energizes, the colors inspire, and the smell of pumpkin spice, apple cider and cinnamon create feelings of warmth. As we embark upon a new season and embrace this change with anticipation, Agape continues to create hope, by making long-lasting positive impact in the lives of the students we serve throughout the year.
On average, the 11 years our students will spend with Agape will drastically change the trajectories of their lives and break generational cycles of poverty. Instead of contributing to dismal high school dropout rates, 54% will attend college, while 46% of our children will enter the workforce full-time. Many of our students will be first-generation college students, like Agape participant, Uriana who received a scholarship to attend Centre College in Kentucky and is currently enrolled as a freshman.
Uriana has been in the Agape program for 11 “amazing years.” She is the first in her family to attend college and attributes her success, thus far, to being surrounded by a special group of people who empowered her to become the best version of herself. People like her Agape supporters who, at a critical time in her family’s life, stepped in to provide financial and emotional support. When Uriana’s mother struggled to provide for her children, Agape, was there to provide hope once again.
