Reading Readiness is an early reading initiative for rising first and second graders. It occurs over a 6 week period on Mondays and Wednesdays only.
Dates: Monday, June 6 – Wednesday, July 13
Program Hours: 10am – 12pm
In it’s second summer, Reading Readiness served 30 young children in a free, full day program for three weeks. The program provided reading lessons, crafts and arts projects, free transportation to and from the program each day, units on nutrition, cooking, plants, and a healthy lunch.
Following Reading Readiness, we offer a nine-day comprehensive camp for rising first and second graders that covers an entire school day filled with reading, math, science, cooking and arts and crafts!
Dates: Monday, July 18 – Thursday, July 28
Program Hours: 8:30am – 1:30pm
*Friday, July 29 – Volunteers come to clean up/break down*
Reading Readiness is staffed by Agape staff, dedicated volunteers from St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, and program assistants hired from the Agape Ginger Kaney Mentoring Institute for High School Students, who work one on one with the younger children. This program takes place at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church.
