Volunteer Registration Goes Digital!!

In an effort to streamline our processes and work more efficiently, we are excited to announce that we have moved our previously paper based volunteer registration form to an online format.  We ask that ALL new and returning volunteers complete this form by clicking the link below.

By completing this form and including your SSN, we will run the annual criminal background check on your behalf.

VOLUNTEER PROCESS

In an effort to ensure the continued safety of our children and to further adopt best practices in working with them, we are continuing with our volunteer process in place for all new and existing Homework Buddies and Cupp Reading Tutors. We hope you understand and appreciate our process and we look forward to having each of you return for the second semester of the 2018-2019 school year.

  • All new and existing Homework Buddies and Reading Tutors must have an ANNUAL criminal background check
  • All new and existing Homework Buddies and Reading Volunteers 18 years and older are required to complete the Darkness to Light (Stewards of Children) Training.  Once completed, it’s good for 3 years!  For more information about the training, please click here.

The Darkness to Light (Stewards of Children) training can be completed online for $10.  To register for online training click here.

A copy of your Darkness to Light (Stewards of Children) Training certificate must be emailed to volunteer@agapeatlanta.org upon completion of the training.  If you have previously completed the Darkness to Light (Stewards of Children) Training, please email volunteer@agapeatlanta.org a copy of your certificate or check to see if she has it on file.

Volunteer one hour of your time each week during the school year to provide mentorship and homework assistance to the elementary and middle school children in our after-school programs. This is a deeply enriching experience for both student and volunteer. Dr Cupp

ORIENTATION FOR ALL NEW AND EXISTING VOLUNTEERS

We are excited about our move into the new building located at 2210 Marietta Blvd. NW, but we know you must have tons of questions! 

Agape provides a supervised, safe haven in the after-school programs at a time of day when teen crime and teen pregnancy spike among unsupervised youths. During this time, tutoring and homework assistance for one hour each week during the school year. Students and mentors are often paired in elementary school and the relationship may last through high school graduation.

For youth volunteers (18 years and under), please review and complete the Youth Volunteer Handbook for orientation. For adult volunteers (19 years and older) please review and complete the Adult Volunteer Handbook. Once you complete the document, please bring a printed copy with you to orientation or email it to volunteer@agapeatlanta.org.

This document will be helpful for orientation and your volunteer experience!

Homework Buddy Locations:

  • All elementary and middle school after school programming occurs at our new 2210 Marietta Blvd. location.
  • Our North Atlanta High School students stay at school on Mondays and Thursdays for tutorial.

Please note, as we are primarily an after school program, we do not typically offer weekend volunteer opportunities.
